California Scholarship Federation
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) started in 1921 by Charles F. Seymour, seeks to recognize students living in the state of California who possess high standards in academic scholarship, community service and citizenship.
Members of the California Scholarship Federation are eligible for a variety of tuition scholarships available at universities across the state and in select colleges nationwide. Approximately one thousand chapters are located in various secondary schools across the state. The organization continues to promote the education of academically motivated students, encouraging them to get involved in their communities through volunteer service.
To qualify for CSF membership:
1. You must earn a minimum of 10 points from last semester's grades.
- The first 4 points must be from LIST I (unless you are a senior applying for membership in January or June).
- The first 7 points (including the four points described above) must be from LISTS I and II
- The remaining points may come from any LIST (I, II, or III).
2. You must use no more than 5 courses to qualify.
3. No CSF points are given for physical education, courses in lieu of physical education, subjects repeated to improve a grade, courses involving office/teachers aids, and courses taken on a pass/fail or no credit basis.
4. CSF points are granted as follows:
- Grade of A = 3 CSF points
- Grade B = 1 CSF point
- One additional point shall be granted for a grade of A or B in AP or Honors courses, up to a maximum of two such points per semester.
- Grade C = 0 CSF points
- Grade D or F in any course, even in one you cannot use to qualify, disqualified you.
ALSO REMEMBER:
1. Semester membership is based on work done in the previous semester (Under very limited circumstances summer school may also be used under the CSF guideline rules; you should check with your adviser before listing any summer school work.)
2. You mush reapply each semester.
3. Courses you may use are divided into LISTS I, II, and III (for CSF approved courses see below listing)

LIST I:
1. English: 9, 10, 11 and 12 and AP English
2. Foreign Language: Spanish 1, 2, and 3
3. Mathematics: Integrated Math 1, 2 and 3 (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, PreCalculus, and Calculus)
4. Science: Biology/Ag. Biology, Anatomy/Physiology, Animal Anatomy/Plant Physiology, Chemistry, Physics
5. History: World History; U.S. History; Civics; and Economics,
LIST II:
1. Science: Anatomy, Life Science; Physical Science, Intro to Ag. Earth Science **science classes not already counted in List 1
2. Social Studies: Sociology/Psychology (online)
3. History: Geography
1. Fine Arts: Art 1, Photography
2. Business: Computer Literacy
3. Home Economics: Home Economics
4. Math: General Math (Basic Math)
5. English: English Language Development (ELD), English 1,2,3 credit recovery (repeated class)
6. Industrial Technology: Ag. Shop 1, 2 (Welding); Ag. Mechanics; and Woodshop
7. Science: All courses not meeting List I or II science requirements;
8. Other: Career Choices & Career Choices Credit Recovery (if not a repeated class); Driver's Ed./Health; Post High School Prep; Yearbook; Leadership/Student Government; Computer Application; Exploritory Science/Robotics, Digital Media Arts
