Welcome

Princeton Joint Unified School District is located 75 miles north of Sacramento. Most of the students live within the Glenn County boundaries so the Princeton Schools are part of the Glenn County Office of Education.

Princeton Joint Unified School District (PJUSD) schools are situated on two separate sites within city limits. There are over 200 students enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Over half of the students are limited English speakers. Twelve percent of the students are AFDC, and over sixty-five percent of students are on free or reduced lunch. Princeton Elementary School is a Title 1 Schoolwide school. There are two major languages spoken: English and Spanish.

Princeton Community Day High School is located at the west end of the high school campus. The Elementary Community Day School is located on the south end of the elementary campus. They have an average student population of approximately 4 students.

Princeton Elementary School was built in 1973. The teaching staff has been very stable for many years with few changes. There are 6 classroom teachers in addition to a Resource Specialist Program and a Title I English Language Development Teacher. This year’s K– 6 grade enrollment is 105 students with 2 students in CDS.

Princeton High School was built in the early 1970’s. There are 9 classroom teachers that includes a Resource Specialist Teacher. This year’s 7 – 12th grade enrollment is 108 students with 5 students in CDS. The total district wide enrollment is approximately 220 students.

The economy of the area is primarily agriculture with the principal crops being rice, walnuts, row crops, and almonds.

About 80% of the students are bused in to school. A large part of our student population is composed of English language learners several of whom are students of migrant parents or parents that do experience some mobility during the academic school year. Fortunately, in our area these students are able to attend Princeton Schools for most of the year. These students are extremely bright, but generally do not perform well on language-based assessments (because English is their second language).

Parents play very important roles at Princeton Elementary School through their active participation and involvement in the School Site Council, small group instructional support, fund-raising, field trips, and volunteering.

One of the primary goals for the staff is to continue to include parents in their child’s education. We have bilingual liaisons that work closely with staff and parents to inform and include all parents in our school family. We have many social functions where teachers, students, and parents can interact and exchange ideas for assisting our students.   We also have partnerships with Migrant Education whereby we offer a Summer Academy for our district students, after school programs, an extended day Kindergarten program and a Pre-School Program for 4 year old children.
